New Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Singapore

New Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Singapore

Project details

A competition entry for the Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Vivekananda Cultural Centre, organised by RKM Singapore in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Architects to mark the Mission’s centenary at 179 Bartley Road. The design is rooted in the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, treating architecture as an inward journey rather than an object. Organised around the circle as an archetypal form, the building recedes into the landscape beneath a sloping green roof, with a descending ramp drawing visitors toward a central, domed meditation hall lit by a single oculus. Surrounding programmes of gallery, multi-purpose hall, and learning spaces radiate outward from this spiritual core, translating personal reflection into collective engagement.

The project received a Merit award.
