Steigenberger Sur is a mixed use hospitality development with 114 rooms, 30 serviced apartments, 35 villas, a water and adventure park and a 1000-person banquet facility located near the beach in Sur, Oman.

Inspired by the existing landscape of dry hills, lush valleys – ‘Wadis’, and an intricate water irrigation system of ‘Aflaaj’ channels. The sand-colored hotel is designed to emulate the hills with varying heights and is interspersed with a network of ‘aflaaj’ like water channels and ‘wadi’ like greens. A series of bespoke screens inspired by historic Omani architecture motifs help control insolation, reduce air conditioning and create a dynamic façade further emulating the light and shade play of the nearby hills.
